Southern Door School Board loses per diems

Southern Door School District's annual meeting took an unexpected turn Monday when a School Board member and roughly 20 community members voted against board members receiving per-diem payments.

Before Monday, board members had received an annual salary and a $70 per diem for each entire day, or $35 for each night or part of a day or night, spent on district work outside of regular meetings. The board will continue to receive reimbursements for other expenses such as mileage.
