Letters: Rep. Penny Bernard Schaber behind on redistricting

6:31 PM, Sep. 16, 2013  |  Comments

I read recently Rep. Penny Bernard Schaber's letter, stating she wants redistricting reform and supports a hearing on AB 185, calling for redistricting. I find it interesting that she wants redistricting reform now that she's running for the state Senate.

If Rep. Bernard Schaber is such a supporter of redistricting reform, why didn't she introduce a bill when she and the Democrats controlled the Legislature and the governor's office under Gov. Jim Doyle? If it's such a good idea when she and the Democrats are out of power, why wasn't it a good idea when Democrats under Doyle had the votes to do this?

Sounds like Bernard Schaber changed her mind for purely political reasons. Now that she doesn't like what has legally and properly happened, she wants it changed.

What else has she changed her mind on now that she's running for the Senate and the Democrats have lost control over the Assembly, Senate and the governor's office?
