WPS studying how to get more electricity

Utility could build plant in Green Bay or Kaukauna

If Wisconsin Public Service Corp. builds a new power plant, it likely will be in Green Bay or Kaukauna.

The Green Bay-based utility said Tuesday it will need new sources of electricity by 2019. Some will replace existing coal-fired plants that might be shut down and some will be for new demand.

WPS is considering other options, such as buying electricity through short- or long-term contracts, as it did from Kewaunee Power Station nuclear plant before it shut down in May and from Fox Energy Center before it bought the natural gas-fired plant in 2012. ...
