There is nothing quite like home-canned food. "Preserving food from pasture or field during the fall can make for quick, and delicious family meals later on," says Barbara Ingham, University of Wisconsin Extension food safety specialist, "but be sure to follow research-tested recipes for safe, high quality food that your family will enjoy."

The Winnebago County UW Extension office, 625 E. County Trunk Y, Suite 600 Oshkosh, is hosting a canning meats workshop featuring up-to-date research-tested information. This program offers learners a chance to listen, learn, and ask questions of experts in the field.

The canning meat workshop will feature information about canning meat and wild game and making safe jerky.

Join us for the Canning Meats Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from noon to 1 p.m.

This program is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is requested. Please call 232-1970 to register.
