Oconto Co. Board OKs bonding for law enforcement center

OCONTO The Oconto County Board on Thursday approved its intent to issue up to $25 million in bonds to build a new law enforcement center, which members now want to be located in the city of Oconto.

While several votes remain before construction could commence in two to three years, the board's two votes were a major milestone for a project contemplated for 15 years.

"Our current facility is old, outdated, inefficient and needs major repairs," Administrative Coordinator Kevin Hamann said. "We've had numerous studies, reports ? that show you our facility needs to be updated." ...
