Woodcarving show this weekend

The Wisconsin River Woodcarvers 2013 Woodcarving Show, Competition & Sale will be held Saturday and Sunday at The Holiday Inn, 1001 Amber Ave., Stevens Point. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 and free for those ages 12 and younger. Parking is free.

Wood art from around the country will be entered in competition, displayed and sold at this weekend's event. This is the largest woodcarving show in Wisconsin and features more than 100 wood artists: carvers, pyrographers (wood burning), chip carvers, bark carvers, relief carvers, sculptors, painters and more. Demonstrations of carving, pyrography, knife sharpening held throughout both days and Kids Carving Classes will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday and at 1:45 p.m. Sunday. Carving tools and supplies, books and wood will be on sale. A raffle of handmade carvings and art will be held.
