10 YEARS AGO: Just in time for the Maple Fall Fest, a pair of donated shelters greeted guests at Wildwood Park. The city's Fall Fest has benefited from many projects in its 11-year history.

The YMCA Grand Reopening will begin Sept. 25 at the Marshfield Area YMCA. The facility now includes a new fitness center, new cardio and strength training equipment and new programs.

25 YEARS AGO: Army National Guard Pvt. 1st Class Richard A. Carolfi has completed the basic field artillery cannoneer course at Fort Sill, Okla. The 1988 graduate of Pittsville High School is the son of Beverly Bender of Arpin.

50 YEARS AGO: James Southard, 1620 Erickson Ave., has left Marshfield on the first leg of a trip to England for the purpose of buying "used cars." Southard is an antique and classic car fan and has established an auto museum near Eau Claire.

75 YEARS AGO: Several hundred people filled Germania hall to hear Sen. F. Ryan Duffy, who was introduced by George F. Meyer, master of ceremonies. The event was the dedication exercises of the new Medford Federal Building.
