Appleton North shuts out Wausau West

Appleton North defensive lineman Cole Salm is listed at just a biscuit over 260 pounds on the Lightning program.

On Friday, he looked like a thoroughbred in breaking open a close game with Wausau West after returning a fumble 39 yards for a touchdown to spark the Lightning to a 27-0 victory in a Valley Football Association-North Division game at Paul Engen Field.

With North leading 14-0, Salm recovered a fumble on Wausau West's first play in the fourth quarter and sprinted - or something resembling sprinting - 39 yards the other direction for the score and a 20-0 lead. ...
