New church celebrating Sunday with bi-lingual service

Trinity Hmong Lutheran Church was "born" just a few weeks ago but the origins of this "daughter" of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church go back nearly 30 years.

Xiong Lee will be among those celebrating in a special bi-lingual worship-pastor installation service at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the downtown sanctuary, 1033 S. Eighth St., the two congregations share.

"I have been so blessed ... God has been on my side," said Lee, 32, the president of Trinity Hmong. He came to the U.S. from Laos at age five, growing up at First German, which has viewed itself as a gathering of Christians worshiping in two ...
