Elaine Meyer

Age: 75

City: Wausau

Family: One brother in Green Bay and a sister in Malone

Church: Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church

Ministry: Works with a group from St. Catherine's Circle at Holy Name Parish to bead, knot and assemble rosaries for the missions and confirmation candidates. "About 10 of us get together about once a month to work on the rosaries," Meyer said. "Two members of St. Michael's Church give us the beads that are assembled into kits.

"I am also treasurer for Catholic Daughters of the Americas and help with the salad luncheon where the funds (raised) are going for scholarships and to help those in need in the area, and we play bingo with residents at Mount View Nursing Home. Both groups will be involved with the new Warming Center, and I will help as much as I am able. We make meals for Jubilee House and help with Make a Difference Day, too."

Motivation: "You feel like you're doing something good and yet it is social, too. You mainly do something for someone else and have fun, too. I enjoy being the treasurer and want to be sure everything is going right. I have been an officer in all positions except secretary. I'm retired now and have more time to do things for others. You want to have fun while doing it and you get to know a lot of people, too."
