Dorothy Irene Karberg will celebrate her 100th birthday Sunday. She was born Sept. 22, 1913, in a small cement block house on what is now Island Avenue in Port Edwards to Andrew and Helen Pluke.

In the spring of 1927, she finished eighth grade. She attended Alexander High School in Nekoosa. She had to ride the street card to school every day.

She started working in the shipping room office of Nekoosa Edwards Paper Co. in 1933 for 33 cents an hour. She still was in school and had to keep up with her schoolwork. By fall, she was transferred to the main office and was L. M. Alexander's secretary. He was ...
