The Packers announced Monday the release of returner/receiver Jeremy Ross.

Ross committed a crucial fumble on a kickoff in the first quarter on Sunday which led to a Bengals touchdown.

Ross, who played in eight regular-season games for the Packers over the past two seasons, averaged 17.9 yards on nine kickoff returns, 20.5 yards on six punt returns and made one catch for 8 yards.

Ross also committed a crucial muff on a punt return last January in a playoff loss to the 49ers. That mistake led to a San Francisco touchdown.

The Packers have been using Ross and Randall Cobb on returns this season.
