Wausau panel would give 92% of federal grants to city

Nonprofits would get $43,000; city agencies would get $517,000 from community funds

A city committee advised Wausau City Council members Tuesday to give $517,000 from an annual federal grant allotment to city government agencies and $43,000 to local nonprofits.

This year, seven local nonprofits asked for a total of almost $150,000 and city agencies requested $567,000. The committee recommended no funding for two of the nonprofits and approval of a fraction of the requested amounts from the other five.

The panel recommended the city approve funding for all seven city programs that applied, including full funding for five of them. ...
