The Green Bay Packers are taking a look across the street in the hopes of finding a new kick returner.

After releasing receiver Jeremy Ross on Monday, the Packers brought in a handful of players for tryouts, including B.J. Hill, who has spent the last four years playing for the Green Bay Blizzard, an indoor football team.

The 5-foot-9, 181-pounder from Ball State holds most of the Indoor Football League’s return records, totaling 3,412 yards on 166 attempts and scoring 13 touchdowns.

“The workout went well,” said Hill, who is 27 and lives in Green Bay. “I thought they were pleasantly surprised at what I was able to do. We did some basic combine testing and drills, and I just left it all out there.”

The Blizzard plays at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, which is just across South Oneida Street from Lambeau Field.

The Packers have looked at other Blizzard players in tryouts. Running back Laron Council took part in a tryout last year. The Packers signed linebacker Maurice Simpkins to their practice squad in 2010, then promoted him to the 53-man roster. He played in two games that season.
