A portion of Main Avenue downtown De Pere was closed at lunchtime today after a semitrailer carrying large bales of hay got stuck going under the railroad bridge.

The incident involving the first of three trucks carrying hay that were eastbound on Main Avenue resulted in the full closure of the road between Seventh Street and Fort Howard Avenue for about 2 1/2 hours Thursday.

The underpass has a clearance of 14 feet.

The loads were being transported by Kivi Brothers Trucking of Duluth, Minn.
