Little Free Libraries spring up around Door County

The Jacksonport Women's Club's Little Free Library is located at Lakeside Park in Jacksonport. Artist Calsey Cross painted Door County wildflowers on it for the theme 'Wild For Reading.' The design was honored by the LFL website as a library of distinction.

A new phenomenon is popping up all over Door County-Little Free Libraries. The small structures filled with books can be found on the front lawns of reading lovers, in parks, and outside of businesses.

At least a half-dozen Little Free Library (LFL) kiosks stretch from Sand Bay and Sturgeon Bay in southern Door County to Fish Creek and Baileys Harbor in the northern end. Intended to promote literacy and build community, the LFLs are finding a niche in the hearts of book lovers of all ages who hope the project catches on even more in the county.
