Mosquito Hill plans Harvest Moon Festival

Mosquito Hill Nature Center will celebrate autumn's arrival and the fall harvest with its 11th annual Harvest Moon Festival on Oct. 12.

Activities run from 5 to 9 p.m. and include hayrides, a lighted jack-o-lantern walk, indoor learning sessions with live birds of prey and reptiles and hands-on use of telescopes to view the night sky.

There also will be a daytime pumpkin walk, s'mores around the campfire, a pumpkin-seed spitting contest and other outdoor games and crafts for children. Food will be sold. ...
