The State of Wisconsin Elks Association recently held their Fall Conference at the HoChunk Convention Center in Baraboo. Bresa Vuittonet of Fond du Lac, currently a sixth grader at Sabish Middle School, along with her family, were invited guests of the Wisconsin State Elks Association noon luncheon on Sept. 14.

As a fifth grader from Evans Elementary School last year, Vuittonet submitted her essay at the local level (Lodge 57 for judging) in January and was a finalist among three. Bresa went on to district competition where her essay was judged as top of the class - first place in Division 1 (5th and 6th grade) competition throughout the state of Wisconsin.

During the the luncheon, Vuittonet was introduced and invited up front to read her winning essay entitled "What Does the National Anthem Mean to Me." In addition to monetary awards she previously received, Bresa was also given a plaque for her efforts from the State Elks Officers.

Elk members from throughout the state, including many from Lodge 57, were on hand to witness and support Vuittonet at the event.
