Remembering our past: Re-enactors relive history of Civil War

Khaetidawne Quirk, of Mayville, has been a re-enactor for nearly 50 years - her entire life - and for the majority of that time, she's played the part of her ancestor Dr. Rebecca L. Chisholm, who served as a doctor in the Civil War.

Quirk is passionate about the role and the history of that period.

She uses journal excerpts and letters written by Chisholm and her cousin, Maggie Chisholm Littlejohn Martin, to present the most authentic representation of the character and time period as possible. ...
