Union OKs Oshkosh Corp. contract

Company aims for military deal

United Auto Workers Local 578 members approved a five-year contract extension with Oshkosh Corp. that solidifies the company's personnel costs as it competes for a major military contract.

The extension ensures that production will occur in in Oshkosh should the company win the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle contract to replace U.S. Army and Marine Corps Humvees beginning in 2017.

UAW Local 578 President Joe Preisler said the union's 2,500 members, both working and laid off, spoke with their vote Sunday. But Preisler added that the contract is just the beginning of the process. ...
