Home sales remain strong through August

Houses continued to sell at a faster pace and for a higher price in August.

The Wisconsin Realtors Association said August home sales were up 13.7 percent statewide and the median sales price was 6.3 percent higher than last August. That continues a year-long trend that to date includes a 13.1 percent increase in sales and 7.8 percent rise in prices.

In addition, statewide inventory fell from 12 months worth of available houses to 10 months in the past year. In urban areas, inventory is 7.5 months, which is creating upward pressure on prices, according to Michael Theo, association president ...
