Neighborhood group wants to fight blight, crime

Marcia Marek says speeding, vandalism, crime, drugs and blight are proliferating in her northeast side neighborhood, so she has decided to do something about it.

Marek this fall led the creation of a new neighborhood association in the Forest Park area, with the help of about 20 others who are rallying neighbors to combat the problems. As of Monday, the group had knocked on doors and delivered 500 fliers to spread the word and enlist more members.
