Walter White's final moments captivated viewers Sunday, setting a new ratings record for "Breaking Bad," though not for AMC.

The final 75-minute episode averaged 10.3 million viewers, according to preliminary Nielsen estimates, up sharply from last week's 6.6 million. And more than two-thirds of those viewers were in the sweet spot of adults ages 18 to 49 favored by advertisers. The episode was the most-watched series finale ever on basic cable, though HBO's "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City" had bigger sendoffs.
