Rec. Dept. events include water colors, tennis, outdoor exploration

The Fond du Lac Recreation Department has scheduled the following upcoming sessions. Participants must register for events at the Rec. Dept., 85 Morningside Drive - unless otherwise noted. Space is limited. Call 929-2885 and check website www.fdlrecdept.com for additional information.

? Oct. 8-15 Water Colors for Adults:

A Water Color Art Class is planned for Tuesdays, Oct. 8 and 15, at the Rec. Dept. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The first day will focus on using a limited palette to create several color study designs, and the second session will focus on using a very loose and fluid free-form of painting technique. Cost is $25 for residents; $30 for non-residents and it includes all supplies.

? Oct. 8-17 Explore The Outdoors:

The Fond du Lac Recreation Department is offering a program for 5- to 10-year-old, titled "Explore the Outdoors." This program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 8 to 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The first class will meet at the Rec. Dept.

Discover the wonderful world we play in! Hike amongst the trees to find all sorts of exciting things. There will be scavenger hunts, art projects of the days activities, animal exercises, Wisconsin trivia and dirt making fun! We will be outside for a majority of the time so please dress appropriately. Cost is $20.

? Oct. 12 - Nov. 2 Tennis Lessons:

The Fond du Lac Recreation Department will continue to offer tennis lessons this fall for 4- to 12-year-olds. Lessons will be held on Saturdays, Oct. 12 through Nov. 2 at Woodworth Middle School.

Tiny Tots and Tiny Tots Plus will be held from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. and Beginners and Beginners Plus will be from 9:50 to 11:05 a.m. Tiny Tots are for children, ages 4 and 5 and will familiarize child with the court and teach them to make contact with the ball.

The Tiny Tot Plus, ages 5 and 6 will expand upon skills learned in Tony Tots. The Beginners, ages 7 and 8 students will brush up on the very basics and will learn fundamentals, stroke production and rules. The Beginners Plus, ages 9 and up will expand on the skills taught in the beginner's class. Cost is $30 for the four classes.
