Jon Gast column: 'Crazy idea' turned into successful Run Wild

Arnie Lindauer claims no direct credit for the creation of Run Wild, the popular run/walk that will celebrate its 25th anniversary Saturday morning at Potawatomi State Park, but his office sure did.

Lindauer was superintendent of the park at the time of the first run when he was approached by two of his DNR colleagues from Green Bay to consider hosting a fun run.

"I remember them telling me they had this crazy idea and wanted to know what I thought about it. A run had never been held in a state park before," said Lindauer. "There was no mechanism in place to collect funds." ...
