Pets to be blessed

Two events will be held in De Pere on successive days for residents to have their pets blessed.

? The annual Blessing of the Animals will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, on the south side of St. Norbert Abbey, 1016 N. Broadway.

The Rev. John Kastenholz, O. Praem., will offer the blessing in honor of the Feast of St. Francis.

Attendees should use the Abbey Church parking lot for the free event.

? First United Presbyterian Church will hold the inaugural Blessing of the Animals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in the church parking lot, 605 N. Webster Ave.

The free event will benefit Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary. Monetary donations and pet food will be accepted for the no-kill shelter.

Soup Walk on Saturday

Definitely De Pere will present the third annual Downtown Soup Walk from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Nearly 20 restaurants and bars in downtown De Pere are scheduled to participate. Each location will have its own homemade soup recipe available for sampling.

The Soup Walk tickets are $15 per individual and $25 per pair. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and only 200 tickets will be sold.

Woman's Club luncheon Wednesday

The Woman's Club of De Pere will host its annual membership drive luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at De Pere Community Center, 600 Grant St.

Appetizers, salads, desserts and beverages will be served at the potluck event.

The luncheon will include a welcoming of guests and prospective club members as well as special appearances by military veterans.
