County officials set proposed tax rate at 2013 level

Wood County officials have decided not to increase the county tax rate despite learning state-mandated caps would have allowed them to increase the amount of the tax levy by more than $600,000.

The proposed 2014 budget is $92.5 million, with about $22 million coming from taxes, said Michael Martin, Wood County finance director. Officials currently plan to use about $1.8 million of general funds to balance the budget.
