The Wausau Newman Catholic football team found itself on the happier side of a one-point ballgame this week.

Just seven days after dropping a one-point decision to Loyal, the Cardinals bounced back with a 34-33 homecoming victory over Abbotsford in a Cloverwood Conference game Friday night at Stiehm Stadium.

The win improved Newman's record to 4-3 and more importantly, kept its playoff hopes alive. The Falcons had their playoff chances vanquished by falling to 2-5 with two games to play. ...
