VFW seeks nominations for citizenship teacher award

Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary is accepting nominations for the Citizenship Education Teacher Award. The award recognizes teachers who promote patriotism, civic responsibility and flag etiquette in their classrooms.

There are three levels of awards: elementary, middle school and high school, with local and state awards in each. There is a $1,000 national award for the top teachers on each level and a $1,000 award for each winning teacher's school, plus an all-expenses-paid trip to attend a VFW and Ladies Auxiliary National conference.

To participate, contact Audrey I. Tessmer, chairwoman, VFW Auxiliary 388, 1502 Norton St., Wausau WI 54401. For more information, call 715-848-1502. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 1.
