Library begins 1,000 Books program

The new 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program began Tuesday at T.B. Scott Free Library. This ongoing program challenges parents to keep track of books read to their preschool children.

Families may join at the library Youth Services Desk to receive an information packet and a free book for each preschool child. A free book is awarded at each 100-book milestone, for a total of 11 free books when you reach 1,000.

A child may begin anytime before he or she enters kindergarten. If parents read only one book at bedtime every night for three years, or three books a day for one year, they will have read 1,095 books.

For more information, call 715-536-7191, or stop in at the library with your child to join the program.
