Adams deputy receives Purple Heart

Adams County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Johnson returned to full duty Sept. 11 after sustaining a gunshot wound while responding to a suspicion complaint on Feb. 19.

The Sheriff's Office held a small gathering for coworkers, friends and family to welcome Johnson back to work. Sheriff Sam Wollin and Chief Deputy Terry Fahrenkrug presented Johnson with a Purple Heart award during the event.

The citation accompanying the award read: "This is to certify that Sheriff Sam Wollin has awarded the Purple Heart to Deputy Todd Johnson Adams County Sheriff's Office for being injured while responding to a ...
