I received feedback to the column that appeared here two Saturdays ago concerning an act of kindness I witnessed in Brussels.

I told the story of witnessing a young cashier at Marchant's market assist an elderly gentleman with his purchases. The young lady rang up his groceries, and then, telling me she'd be back in a minute to check me out, walked out the door with the customer, carrying his heavier purchases. She helped him load the groceries on the back of a John Deere riding mower that had an obviously homemade wooden box attached behind the seat.
