Hike along the lakeshore

The Ridges naturalist, Karen Newbern, and Door County naturalist Paul Regnier will lead the "Going Coastal Shoreline Walk," an off-the-beaten-path hike along one of Door County's most famous landscapes, the shoreline of Lake Michigan on Oct. 12.

Hikers will search for migrating birds and monarchs, as well as late-blooming wildflowers. The naturalists will also discuss alvars (limestone plains) and pavement beaches, local invaders and the influence of fall on plant and animal life cycles along the shores of the big lake.
