I read with interest your editorial regarding the government shutdown. It has been my position since it was first discussed that attempting to remove Obamacare via a government shutdown was the wrong tactic from Republicans. I have made numerous statements to this effect and been consistent in my position.

I would have voted for a wide range of proposals during this process in order to keep the government open. In fact, I was an original co-sponsor of a bill introduced six months ago (HR 1164) that would have mandated a clean continuing resolution, avoided a shutdown and forced both sides to ...
