Colby choir students get voice lesson from professional singers

Colby High School choir students have expanded their vocal abilities and learned how a Midwestern a cappella singing group turned their musical talent and passion into a career.

Six Appeal, a six-man pop a cappella group from St. Paul, Minn., visited the school Monday and demonstrated a cappella techniques, including beat boxing, in which singers replicate drum sounds using their voices.

"Beat boxing, or mouth drumming, is really popular, especially in the hip hop community, but it's kind of growing beyond that," said Andrew Berkowitz of Six Appeal. ...
