A Plover man faces preliminary charges of attempted homicide after a weekend incident in which he was accused of beating a woman with a baseball bat and telling her he intended to kill her, according to police.

Portage County Circuit Court Judge John Finn set a $250,000 cash bond Monday for Jason Hyatt, 33, of Plover. Hyatt is accused of repeatedly hitting his girlfriend with a baseball bat after she came to his home from a bar early Sunday morning and then tying her up and attempting to make her take what he told her were sleeping pills.
