Of all the numbers the Green Bay Packers have put up in their running game early this season, none might be more startling than this:

In their win over the Detroit Lions last week, the Packers ran on 77 percent of their first downs. The last time they ran that often on first down in a game was 2004, when Ahman Green was at the tail end of his prime as an NFL running back.

"Just tells you that coach (Mike McCarthy) is confident in the run game right now to be calling it that much," left guard Josh Sitton said. "That's good." ...
