For some people, being hungry means missing a meal. For others, it's an ongoing issue.

In 2012, North Central Community Action Program provided screening for 1,353 households - equating to just more than 3,900 people. Some of those people then go to the South Wood Emergency Pantry Shelf, or SWEPS, where they are able to receive a week's worth of food up to six times a year.

The demand on the emergency pantry is increasing, said Ann See, chairwoman for the food pantry based in Wisconsin Rapids. ...
