There's a whole laundry list of reasons my backyard will probably never be deemed garden walk worthy - no fancy water feature, hordes of maple helicopters - but perhaps none more difficult to get past than the clothesline.

I mean that literally. Visitors have to scoot right by it when they come into the garden. It's not tucked away in the back corner or barely visible over yonder on 3 sprawling acres, it's front and center right between the curves of the cottage garden and a shade bed. Nothing says "Welcome To My Garden; Check Out My Whites'' like a clothesline.
