The Algoma City Council passed multiple motions on the Oct. 8 meeting at the Algoma City Hall, including changing how solid waste and recycling will be handled.

A motion was passed unopposed for the city to enter into a 10-year contract with Advanced Disposal for all solid waste and recycling services. The current contract will expire at the end of the year, and as of Jan. 1, every residential address in Algoma will use bins owned by Advanced Disposal.

With Advanced Disposal, recycling will be picked up every two weeks and garbage every week. The bins that will be used are 96 and 65 gallons, and it ...
