Disregards Israel

There is persistent identification of Barack Hussein Obama with the Islamic Muslim culture. His Muslim roots are his biologic, Kenyan father, his Indonesian, Muslim stepfather, and his adolescent, Indonesian, Muslim education. It is difficult to dismiss his bias toward Islamic countries (Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Libya) and his disregard of Israel. Now, with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, he has chosen communications which are a ploy to acquire time for Iran to build their atomic bomb. The Iranian intent, like all of Islam, is to destroy Israel, and Obama has placed Israel, our closest ally, in a precarious position of survival.

Better help

Have you ever contacted the Better Business Bureau?

We recently had an issue with a Canadian company that refused to honor the warranty on our outdoor wood furnace. The dealer we purchased it through, a small business owner here in Manitowoc County, was no help, and we didn't want the expense of getting a lawyer involved.

We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which has branches throughout the United States and Canada. Within 30 days, our issue was resolved and the warranty was honored.

More information on the Better Business Bureau can be found online at www.bbb.org or by calling (800) 273-1002.

Learn Chinese

With the current state of affairs, the national debt, the unwillingness of our elected officials to work together, it appears that raising the limits of our debt is considered to be the answer. I have seven grandchildren, the oldest of which is in the seventh grade. All of them are very intelligent (must be genetics). Recently my granddaughter asked me: Grandpa, our teacher asked us to ask our grandfather if he had any advice for the future? All kidding aside, the best I was able to come up with was, "If it's available to you, learn to speak Chinese."

Forward or back?

So, do we as a nation step forward and inherit what our Founding Fathers gave us, a recipe for freedom, or do we fall back and give up all that's been fought for and won: freedoms, rights and responsibilities? Will we fight for our freedom as endowed by our Creator, or is it just too much work? Will we let our prejudices divide us?

When I enlisted and then re-enlisted over 32 years in the Army I swore an oath. I swore: "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same?" Now retired, solely a citizen, I live by the same oath. The enemy I see is this nation's great middle class apathy.

Failure is not an option! We are the problem and the solution. Wake up America!

Just me?

Poll confusion

Fox News, the surrogate of the Republican Party, had a recent poll. Republicans like the Affordable Care Act more than Obamacare. Republican support of President Obama's health care legislation rose by 8 percentage points when identified as the Affordable Care Act instead of Obamacare. In a CNBC poll 54 percent approve of Obamacare while 63 percent approve of the ACA.

Call it what you want, Obamcare or ACA, they are the same thing. ACA passed both houses of Congress, the President signed it into law and it was upheld by the Supreme Court. Both Romney and McCain ran against the ACA and they both lost to Obama.

Tea Party favorite, Ted Cruz, the Canadian-born senator from Texas, shut down our government over a law he didn't like, the ACA.

Swan song

... and the last thing!

All great parties must come to an end and in the Geigel household it's at 9 p.m. so I can be in bed by 10 p.m.! Well, this "opinion party" has reached its bewitching hour of 9 p.m. and I'm going to bed. It was a great party the past year-plus, but it's time for someone else to let his or her opinions be known publicly. I'll still have my personal opinions and if you want I'll share them with you at Kathy's Stage Door Pub, John's Courthouse Pub, Paul's Green Street Tavern or Scotty's Mobile 310 filling station!

... there's still many things that are ridiculous, so keep stopping them already!
