Appleton man damages three police cars during chase

A 28-year-old Appleton man who tried to flee police Sunday night struck three squad cars in a chase that ended after police used a Taser and spike strip to stop him on the city's northeast side.

The chase began after an Appleton woman called police about 6:15 p.m. to report her ex-husband was outside her home "smashing vehicles," said Appleton police Sgt. Pat DeWall. Police think the 28-year-old man rammed two vehicles on the 600 block of Vermont Avenue with his van and threw food at them, causing dents.

The man was gone by the time police arrived, but officers later found him in a nearby parking ...
