My kids and I got our flu vaccine last week. Because I'm pregnant, my doctor also recommended I get a shot for pertussis, so I got that one, too. I'll encourage everyone who's going to be around my newborn this season to do the same.

Although these vaccines are routine, widely available and accepted by the majority of our community, it sometimes seems to me that everyone is against them. From Jenny McCarthy to the neighbor down the street, all I hear and read about is about the evils of vaccines, leading me to question them as well.
