White Heron relaunches as newVoices with concert dedicated to breast cancer survivors

A 35-year-old Fox Valley arts organization begins its 2013-14 season Saturday with a brand new name and an opening concert that hits close to home.

Formerly known as the White Heron Chorale, newVoices reflects a change in leadership, namely artistic director Phillip Swan, co-director of choral studies at Lawrence University, and executive director Jeanie Kurka Reimer. The name also more fully represents the choir, which attracts members from throughout northeastern Wisconsin.
