Letters: Health reform fight doesn't make sense

6:32 PM, Oct. 11, 2013  |  Comments

I'm puzzled about this government shutdown. It hurts many people, including foreign travelers who are here to see our wonderful national parks and monuments - and spend their money. We just returned from a trip West and encountered many of those travelers.

What I don't understand is, if the Republicans don't like the Affordable Care Act, why haven't they proposed amendments to make it better? All they want to do it eliminate.

What about the good parts like health insurance regardless of pre-existing conditions and insurance companies not using more than 20 percent of the premium on administration?

People do need health insurance. You never know when a catastrophic illness will strike you, even if you're young. Think about it.
