Are you looking for a creative outlet or to study your heritage? Do you like to give homemade presents that are one of a kind? Then you may be interested in a class in Norwegian rosemaling at the Chestnut Avenue Center for the Arts in Marshfield. Classes will be taught by Carol Bender, a local Scandinavian folk art painter.

Rosemaling, translated as "decorative painting," is a traditional Norwegian style of folk art painting. Designs are created from C and S brush strokes and feature flowing lines, scrolls and imaginary flowers.

The rural folk art was practiced between 1750s and 1850s in Norway ...
