J.R. Vette remembered for support of community

Avid pilot, sailor and philanthropist John R. Vette is being remembered for a life spent serving community organizations and supporting youth programs throughout the Oshkosh area.

Vette, often known as J.R., died Thursday at age 78 after a long battle with an illness, surrounded by family members.

Vette was born in Evanston, Ill., in 1935. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1957 and served in the United States Air Force from 1958 through 1963. ...
