A Wausau-area builder wants to develop a new subdivision of single-family homes in Kronenwetter, but village officials say a required zoning change doesn't fit with the village's comprehensive land-use plan.

The Kronenwetter Plan Commission on Monday night recommended the Village Board not approve the zoning change needed for developer Heath Tappe to build about 55 homes on 38 acres near Lea Road.

According to the request, the conservancy-wetland district was established to protect and conserve natural resources in the village. It states: "Generally, this includes swamps, ...
