It was shortly after I came to work at the Door County Advocate in the mid-1970s that a group called The Johnsons hit the local musical scene. It was proved to be a hugely popular group because the musicians were local and its music connected with the pre-disco rock material made famous by groups like the Eagles, America and many more.

It was influenced by a remarkable era in Sturgeon Bay music centered around some memorable concerts at Corpus Christi Catholic Parish.
