Without comment, the Oconto City Council approved on Oct. 8 a statement of support for construction of a Law Enforcement Center in or near the city limits.
The resolution, part of the council's consent agenda that was unanimously approved, was recommended by the Industrial Development Commission at its September meeting.
The Oconto County Board last month approved an intent to issue up to $25 million in bonds for the project, as well as shifting its planned location from a site on County Highway S just north of the city to the square block north of the courthouse. (See related story on Page A1.)
In other business, the council also approved:
» A contract with R&R Assessing Services to provide property assessment services in 2014-15 for $43,680.
» Appointing Allen Mehlberg to the Harbor Commission, replacing Rich Carey who moved out of the city.
» Appointing Dan Norman to the Tourism Committee, replacing Marsha Present, who resigned.
